Special announcement – 二代目襲名

Time flies!
It is already the end of year.
I have not updated this page since long time as I was so busy..

As for myself, I had many stages this year at several cities.
My students also had stages as “Team Ukon”.
I will update little by little later.

Today I have a very special announcement.
I have taken over the leader of Takafuji-ryu as second grand master from first grand master Mariko Takafuji on 17th Dec. 2011.
It is indeed an honor to take over it, but at the same time, I am reminded the importance and responsibility of this position.
I will devote myself to develop the Takafuji-ryu with persistent effort.

Thank you very much for your continuous support to Takafuji-ryu.

皆様におかれましては益々ご健勝の御事と御慶び申し上げます。

この度皆様のお許しを頂き、孝藤流二代目を襲名させていただくことと相成りました。若輩者の私がこの様に襲名できますのもひとえに皆々様のお力添えのお陰でございます。このお話を初代家元から頂いたとき、未熟な私が名跡を辱めるのではと不安でしたが、古典日本舞踊の師である世家真嘉世先生にお伺いをたてたところ「芸は死ぬまで勉強、ゴールはないのですよ、自分との戦いでしかないですから」というお言葉をいただきました。二人の母の心に、また皆様の温かい想いに背かぬよう精一杯精進致す所存でございます。私は現在東京にて刀エクササイズ創始者としてケイダッシュステージに所属させていただき全国を視野に活動しております。芸を深め可能性を広げる為に東京金沢を拠点に弟左近ともども流派繁栄を目指していく所存でございますので、今後とも御指導、御鞭撻賜りますよう偏に御願い申し上げます。

　最後になりましたが、媒酌人を引き受けて頂きました円純庵先生、長年流派を支えて下さっている一門の方々、後援会の皆様、お世話頂いた沢山の方々に感謝申し上げます。

Akasaka Odori-赤坂をどり

I went to Akasaka Odori with my Ozashiki students on 9th April. 

“Akasaka Odori” is a traditional Japanese dance performance which began in 1949.We went its 51st performance which is held in Akasaka ACT Theater. through this show you can see well-trained beautiful performance of Akasaka Geisha.

 

Kaoru-neisan, she is Akasaka Geisha whom I respect much.

She checked team Ukon’s performance before going to Shanghai tour and etc. Though it was very short time, we could get very valuable comments.

 

This is the picture with Team Ukon members.

 

During and after the show, Akasaka Geisha ladies took a lead in collecting a donation for Tohoku earthquake.

 

We could have a precious time and the atmosphere at the Akasaka odori. It is the world of subtle and profound beauty.

私の大先輩で先生　赤坂芸者衆をひきいる香帆留さん出演の舞台が赤坂のACTシアターであったので、恒例の観劇会を右近のお座敷舞メンバーで企画しました。

こうゆうときこそ着物でしよう！
私もオリジナルブランドのBANNLEEで帯もそろえて出陣です。

日本の美！うつくしい黒の引き着からチラつく中の赤い襦袢袖におこし。

この世の美を追求した、この世の美しさを超越した白塗り、いいですね。
なんといっても今年は芸者さんが全員　最後会場で地震の募金箱をもたれてる姿にぐっときました。

香帆留姐さんには私やお座敷舞の右近社中（TEAM阿国）のメンバーに上海公演や八王子ディナーショーや小唄芝州先生の発表会で踊りを指導いただいたりと、メンバーが大ファンなのです。

観劇のあとはカフェでみんなで語り合いました。

 

Kimono show

I was invited as a guest dancer to the KIMONO SHOW last weekend. I performed some short numbers.

週末きものショー出演しました。狐のお面から芸者への早変わりです。

Family crests – 家紋

Family crests first appeared in Japan during the Heian period when aristocrats placed their favorite designs of plants and flowers on clothes and cow carriages.

Warriors then began to use family crests with more geometric designs on their flags to identify themselves on the battlefields.

Though powerful merchants and kabuki actors were permitted to use them in the Edo period, ordinary people have been able to use family crests freely since the Meiji period.

There are said to be more than 10,000 different family crests in Japan.

Though I have a family crest, I have my own crest too as an artist. It is “Tachibana (mandarin orange)” which is auspicious motif in Japan.

Today, family crests can be seen on black ceremonial kimonos, called “montsuki.”  This picture is the crest on the “montsuki.”  which I wore in New Year’s show at Kagaya.

This is a combination of “Fuji (Japanese wisteria)” motif and “Mari (temari ball)” motif.  Fuji motif is representing “Takafuji-ryu (the group of Japanese dance which I belong to) and “Mari (temari ball)” motif comes from the name of my grand master. Her name is Mariko. She is my mother.  I use this motif to display a feeling of respect to her.In addition, there is my name　”Ukon(右近）” in it.

日本では家紋は、平安時代に貴族が好きな花や植物の文様を衣装や牛車に付けたのがはじまりです。やがて、武家が旗印として、戦場で敵味方が見分けられるように幾何学的デザインを用いるようになりました。

有力な町人や歌舞伎役者たちは、江戸時代にはすでに家紋を使っていましたが、一般人が自由に家紋を使うようになったのは明治時代からだそうです。日本には1万以上の家紋があるそうですよ。

この写真は加賀屋さんでのお正月のカウントダウンステージにて着用した紋付です。

紋は母親の流派 孝藤流の藤に鞠です。 なぜなら母が孝藤まりこ家元ですので紋に鞠をあしらっています。鞠に右近という字をいれさせてもらってます。

My home town, Kanazawa

Today I will write down something about my hometown, Kanazawa city.

I was born in Kanazawa city, Ishikawa Prefecture.

It is historical and cultural city.

During the Edo Period, Kanazawa served as the seat of the Maeda Clan, the second most powerful feudal clan after the Tokugawa in terms of rice production and fief size. Accordingly, Kanazawa grew to become a town of great cultural achievements, rivaling Kyoto and Edo (Tokyo).

During World War Two, Kanazawa was Japan’s second largest city (after Kyoto) to escape destruction by air raids. Consequently, parts of the old castle town, such as the Nagamachi samurai district and chaya entertainment districts, have survived in pretty good condition.

Today, Kanazawa remains an important city in its region and serves as the capital of Ishikawa Prefecture. The city boasts many historical attractions such as restored residences and districts, as well as modern museums. But Kanazawa’s unchallenged main attraction is Kenrokuen, one of Japan’s “three best landscape gardens” and by many considered the most beautiful of them all.

 Look at this picture. It looked like a cloud was born from the Kanazawa castle with big energy and went up towards to the top of the sky!!

今日は少し私の故郷金沢について書きたいと思います。金沢はみなさんご存じの通り、歴史的、文化的に素晴らしい街です。加賀百万石の名の通り、城下町として京都、江戸に並ぶ文化的な街として発達しました。第二次世界大戦での空襲を免れたために、今でも古い街並みが町のところどころに残っています。芸者さんの花街として有名な場所もありますね。まあ、金沢の細かい説明はいろいろなサイトがありますので。

今回はこの写真を見てください。すごいでしょ。兼六園のすぐ横にあるお城の屋根から竜巻状の雲が空に向かって伸びています。すごくエネルギーを感じませんか？　去年の９月に行われた孝藤流家元の記念公演の後に撮ったものです。

First lesson in 2011.

Today was the first lesson of Geisha dance (Ozashiki-mai) class.

We reviewed around 10 numbers that we practiced before and celebrated the New year.

今日はお座敷舞初稽古でした。

今までやった曲の中から１０曲ほどを踊り、新年を祝いました。

今年もがんばって楽しくお稽古していきましょう！！

New Year stage at Kagaya Hotel

I spent year end and New Year days at Kagaya hotel in Noto (near Kanazawa) for countdown and new year’s show with my brother Sakon and my mother Mariko Takafuji, grand master of Takafuji-ryu.

 

Kagaya hotel is nicely located by the Japan Sea and we could see the wonderful first sunrise of the new year from there.

３０年おもてなし日本一を誇る日本最大規模の超有名一流旅館、加賀屋さんで３年目となるカウントダウン＆三が日の祝賀舞をさせていただきました。

加賀屋さんは海の側に位置し、窓からの眺めは最高です。

Kurokami 黒髪

From this month, my students are practicing the “Kurokami”. This is very famous number. When Maiko becomes Geisha, they dance this number as a kind of ceremony

Geisha workout (Ohgi exercise)

Besides this Geisha dance class, I also have a Geisha exercise class. This is the exercise to use the movement of Geisha dance with fun (ohgi).
This slow movement is very good to develop your inner muscle and burn your fat. It is not only good for as diet exercise but also it makes your movement very elegant like Geisha!

お座敷舞クラスとは別に、わたくし右近が考案した「扇エクササイズ」というものがあります。

これは日舞の型を使い、ゆっくりとした動きでインナーマッスルを鍛えるエクササイズなのですが、これがかなり効きます。日舞を踊るために必要な筋肉を鍛えるのはもちろんのこと、脂肪を燃焼させるのでダイエットにもよし。さらにはしぐさまで芸者さんのように優雅になりますよ。
